OshiSocial Terms of Service

These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of OshiSocial and its associated offerings (“Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read these Terms carefully before using OshiSocial.

1. Agreement to Terms

You may use the Services only if you agree to form a binding contract with us and are not a person barred from receiving services under the laws of the applicable jurisdiction. In any case, you must be at least 18 years old to use the Services. If you are accepting these Terms and using the Services on behalf of a company, organization, government, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to do so and have the authority to bind such entity to these Terms, in which case the words “you” and “your” as used in these Terms shall refer to such entity.

2. Service Availability

OshiSocial is offered in “good faith” and on a “best effort” basis. We strive to provide a reliable service, but we cannot guarantee:

  • Flawless service: There may be occasional bugs or downtime.
  • Redundancy: Our hosting platform currently lacks failover servers. If the server goes down, there will be an outage.
  • Perfect updates: We push code changes manually in production, and mistakes can happen.

However, we do have some positives:

  • Lightweight service: This translates to faster performance.
  • Regular backups: We have host-level backups in place to minimize data loss.
  • Uptime record: We have a strong uptime history of over 90% with no known security breaches (as of 2/12/2026).

3. Disclaimer of Warranties

OshiSocial is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.” OshiSocial disclaims all warranties and conditions, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

4. User Responsibility and Content

You are responsible for your use of the Services and for any Content you provide, including compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. You should only provide Content that you are comfortable sharing with others.

By using OshiSocial, you agree that we may process your content, information, and interactions to Third Party Services as necessary to integrate with the activitypub protocol. Please be aware that you are directing us to deliver your information to services not controlled by OshiSocial, so that your information can be stored and processed by the Third Party Services.

You also agree not to misuse the Services, for example, by interfering with them or accessing them using a method other than the interface and the instructions that we provide. You agree that you will not work around any technical limitations in the software provided to you as part of the Services.

5. Privacy disclaimer for Direct Messages and Drive storage

Please be aware that drive uploads or direct messages sent through ANY fediverse server (including but not limited to OshiSocial) are currently not encrypted. This means that your messages may be accessible to the server admins.

OshiSocial does NOT monitor Direct messages. We cannot guarantee other server admins on the receiving end do not either. (This is applicable when sending direct messages to people on other servers).

Nevertheless, we HIGHLY recommend that you use other platforms for private/sensitive communication or file sharing. Direct messages should be used for more discreet tagging, but NOT as an encrypted privacy tool.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OshiSocial shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Services, or any Content obtained from the Services.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your access to OshiSocial at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including a violation of these Terms.

8. Changes to the Terms

We may change these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms on our documentation website with notice via our fediverse server. Your continued use of OshiSocial after the posting of any revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
